Year 2 and Year 4 were treated to a performance of Jack and the Beanstalk (with a twist). The title of the play was Jack and the Meanstalk and the purpose was to teach the children about the importance of being nice to each other and being kind to your friends.

Round Midnight Workshop - Children in WW1
On Tuesday 10th November the children in year 2 took part in a drama activity where they took the role of children during WW1.
The children learnt that the whole family had to sleep in the same bed, the children were expected to queue up at the butchers to get their rations for the week and the children didn't do fun lessons like we do today.
All of the children re-inacted a typical day of a child in WW1 which although it was fun for the children they really understood how terrible life must have been during that time.

Gurdwara
On Wednesday 14th October we visited a Gurdwara. This a Sikh temple where Sikhs go to pray. However we found that anyone is welcome in a Gurdwara. We visited 2 prayer rooms and you have to take your shoes off and wash your hands when you enter these rooms. There are 6 prayer rooms in the Gurdwara. One of the prayer rooms in on the roof top and we had to walk up lots of stairs to get to it. In this prayer room there is a beautiful dome which is full of shiny and glistening tiles.

Royal Ballet
On Friday 9th October Year 2 were lucky enough to have 2 ladies from the Royal Ballet come and teach us ballet from Swan Lake. It was very enjoyable for everyone as I'm sure you will see from the photos.
Botanical Gardens
On Thursday 8th October year 2 went on a trip to The Botanical Gardens to find out more about plants that grow in different climates. This linked in well to our topic of weather where we have been learning about different climate zones and continents and countries that experience different climates.
We had a workshop about plants that grow in the Amazon rain forest, and we also got to explore the tropical, sub-tropical, Mediterranean and arid greenhouses.

Phil the bag!
All of year 2 would like to everybody who has helped with our enterprise project!
We have collected lots of clothes over the past few months, and the pictures below give you a brief idea of how many bags we managed to collect. We will now await Phil the bag to get back to us to tell us how much we managed to raise for Year 2's enterprise project.
Thank you!!!

Year 2 Parent workshop
Thank you to all the parents who helped out their children at the workshop on Friday 3rd July. There was a great turn out and both the children and parents thoroughly enjoyed painting and decorating their batik owls.
All of the children are helping out the Big Hoot Project and hope that parents will kindly make a donation for their work.

Mayday celebrations
All of the children throughout the school have been celebrating May Day this week. We made decorations to decorate the corridors and hats and garlands to decorate ourselves! We also got the chance to dance around a maypole, and try to learn how to Morris dance!
Here are some photos of us in action.
